Animations of Engineered Design Solutions
To control structure is to control fire spread
Proper Design / specification through to application and certification...
- From the drawing board to the general operative on-site
- Simple, basic, but critical integration of COLD STATE building design in preparation for the HOT STATE TGD B FIRE = FireBar.
MATERIALS AND THEIR SUITABILITY
It is imperative that the designer makes provision for the inclusion of fire protection design solutions / products and or methods at the design stage, thus assuring that the fire protection / engineered design solutions and products and or systems, as required and applied, are not rendered prematurely ineffective in their intended function in the event of fire, hence the words, materials and their suitability.
STRUCTURAL CONTROL / FIRE CONTAINMENT
Using Structural Fire Engineering principles, in conjunction with the relevant fire resistant materials / products, buildings are designed so that in the event of a fire, there is controlled structural collapse, thereby eliminating the possibility of fire spread to adjoining compartments, or properties.
UNSEEN SPREAD OF FIRE WITHIN CAVITIES / VOIDS INCLUDING THAT OF ROOF / ATTIC SPACES
A high percentage of fire and smoke damage is caused by the rapid spread of smoke and fire through roof / attic spaces, ceiling voids and cavities, both within and between buildings, and or to adjoining compartments / buildings.
PARTY / SEPARATING WALL FIRE STOPPING
Fire containment through the use of the FIREBAR Systems is all important. FIREBAR party wall roof divide systems seals off roof voids so that fire, smoke and gases cannot penetrate same, i.e. within and or between buildings. FIREBAR provides complete fire stopping / protection for party / separating walls at the abutment of same with that of the roof covering, see illustrations A3 & A4.
FIRE STOPS FOR WALL CAVITIES / HOTDOGS
FIREBAR HOTDOGS ARE MULTI PURPOSE FIRE STOPS FOR WALL CAVITIES WITHIN TIMBER OR MASONRY CONSTRUCTION.
FULCRUM FACTOR / SEE-SAW ACTION
FIREBAR party wall roof divide system provides a complete fire stop which eliminates the phenomenon known as the "Fulcrum Factor". This 'See Saw'/ Pivoting action causes disruption and displacement of the primary roof covering (tiles / slates etc) and exposes the highly flammable secondary roof covering (roof felt) and combustible roof components, prefabricated trusses etc, thus bringing into play adjoining compartments or buildings, which should otherwise remain unaffected to the spread of smoke and fire.
PARTY WALL FIRE STOPPING
A TYPICAL FIREBAR PARTY WALL ROOF DIVIDE SYSTEM HAS ALWAYS CONSISTED OF GALVANISED STEEL TRAYS AND ROCKFIBRE GASKETS AS ILLUSTRATED BELOW, AND WILL CONTINUE TO BE AVAILABLE. HOWEVER WITHIN THE ALL NEW FIREBAR ROLLOUT ROOF DIVIDE SYSTEM FOR PARTY / SEPARATING WALLS THE PRINCIPALS OF CONTROLLED STRUCTURAL COLLAPSE REMAIN THE SAME.

As viewed above: The original FIREBAR Party Wall Roof Divide System consisted of specially designed preformed galvanised steel sections, and steel link battens in conjunction with rockfibre inserts to provide a complete fire break at the top of party / separating walls and the abutments of same with that of a roof covering of tiles / slates and or other.
BELOW SEE THE ALL NEW FIREBAR ROLLOUT ROOF DIVIDE SYSTEM FOR THE FIRE STOPPING OF PARTY / SEPARATING WALLS.
The all new Firebar ROLLOUT Roof Divide System / method consists of a robust waterproof foil faced rockfibre incorporating 4 raised sections to act as a water and moisture guides, as illustrated above.
This system comes in rolls, is lightweight, easy to handle, and install, and most importantly site friendly, "you simply roll it out". See the animation link below. The centre cockscomb / vertical up-stand is of a flexible rockfibre, encapsulated in a galvanised light flexible wire mesh which is compressible to enable the up-stand / cockscomb to pickup the underside contours / profiles of tiles / slates, and or other roof coverings. See also the all new multi-purpose steel link battens incorporating pre-installed grounds for the fixing of tiles / slates and or other roof coverings, as may be required.
EAVES BLOCKS, FOOTBALLS of flexible rockfibre, once again encapsulated in a galvanised light flexible wire mesh which can be compressed fitted, and moulded to close off behind fascia boards at eaves level. See illustration K, below.

ALL FIREBAR FIRE STOPPING PRODUCTS, INCLUDING PARTY WALL ROOF DIVIDE SYSTEMS AND HOTDOG FIRE STOPS FOR CAVITY WALLS PROVIDE A MINIMUM OF 60 MINUTES STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY AND FIRE RESISTANCE TO INTERNATIONAL STANDARDS
For use with, Timber / Steel Frame / Masonry and or other methods of construction
"Simplicity at its best", lightweight, installation made simpler, designed to perform in the "cold and hot" state, as are all FIREBAR products. Fully fire tested and approved. Fire test reports available on request.
The systems are extremely flexible as there are different designs available to cater for all possible party / separating wall and roof structure variations. For example: cross-pitch systems for lift shafts, protected stairwells including spiral etc.
See illustration K, and the animations provided. The animation of cross-pitch systems to be uploaded soon.
